- The Palmer Cemetery located in Fishtown is now recognized as a PHILDELPHIA
HISTORICAL COMMISSION Landmark. The cemetery will be displaying the special metal oval marker on the “Bier House” located at Memphis and Palmer Streets. The plaque will be set in place once the building exterior is restored to its red brick finish. The cemetery has been in existance since the early 18th century, and is one of the oldest active burial grounds in the United States. - We will be holding a FALL CLEAN UP at the cemetery on Saturday, October 13th, 2012 beginning at 9AM. This volunteer effort is important to get the cemetery in shape for the winter months. Many of the graves are decorated throughout the year, and most are never cleaned of the old decorations. Please come out to help us clean up our Historic Cemetery on October 13th.
- We will again be holding a Christmas Tree Lighting in Early December, This event was held for the first time last year and was a huge success. Monetary donation are welcome to offset the cost of the tree and decorations. We are alos hoping to work with the Elm Tree Post to have refreshments after the tree lighting inside the post. ALL ARE WELCOME.
- The cemetery is in need of financial donations to help offset the cost to take care the grounds. We need tree trimming, fencing repairs and cement work to name just a few things. Any donation would be appreciated. We are a 501(c)3 non profit. All donations are tax deductible. Businesses in the community are encouraged to help. we will gladly add your business card to our website as a Thank You for making a generous donation. And again, it’s Tax Deductible!
